🏒By 4 years of age my brother I I were fully immersed in the wonderful sport of organized Hockey. By 10 years of age, I was on the ice at least 4 days a week and practicinr on our home court another 2-3 hours a day.

🤯I was hooked and played all the way up until 36 years of age. Endless tournaments, travel, wins and losses later… we’ve finally hit the end of the road!

😥You see in 2004 while competing in an important rugby final, I tore a hip flexor. This lead to a torn labrum and mis-diagnosed for nearly 15 years. I haven’t been able to run since 2010 and had cortosone injections plus a surgery several times since 2017. Unfortunately the pain of skating grew too deep and I’m just too young for a full hip replacement.

🏋️‍♂️THE WIN:

✅This injury which I feel every minute of every day forced me to take my stretching, rolling, supplements, nutrition and self care much more seriously. After years of work, I can:

 - Perform the splits

 - Overhead squat 250lbs

 - Deadlift over 450lbs

 - Lunge 200 steps un-broken

 - Hike 1.5 hours a day

😘Eventually bolstering every joint and muscle around the injured hip to protect it until time for the Titanium.

🏋️‍♂️🥩Unfortunately in my business as a Nutritionist & Online Personal Trainer, I see too many humans who’ve experienced dabilitating injury and used it as an excuse rather than motivator

 ❌Let go of their nutritoon

 ❌Let go of discipline

 ❌Limit the exercise

 ❌Stop caring

❌Slipping into shame and despair worh their bodies.

🙋‍♂️Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Don’t quit!

✅I hope this personal experience creates the following:

✅Hope there is a solution

✅Integrity to identify your mindset

✅Motivation to do something about it

✅Desire to get well
